A couple of years ago, Baptist Health Systems Public Relations Coordinator Rhonda McRae came into the office at the start of a new year looking for a new goal. With a passion and talent for writing, she embarked on a mission to write a book combining her love for Christ… and her sister's golden retriever, Sadie. McRae, her sister, and Sadie are all housemates, along with Lanny, a yellow Lab.
"My relationship with Sadie opened my eyes to a new way of seeing God," says McRae. "Sadie showed me what life looks like when you are absolutely assured of your Master's love, and of your welcome in His presence." In God's magnificent way, he was speaking to McRae through Sadie. The book reflects the lessons the Lord was teaching her about His love and delight in His children.
"What My Golden Retriever Taught Me about God" was released earlier this summer by P&R Publishing. It relates McRae's observations about Sadie, from her addiction to forbidden socks to her insatiable appetite for popcorn, and how they communicate divine lessons of God's goodness as the heavenly Master.
Look for the book on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and wherever Christian books are sold. McRae will have a book signing on July 24 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at Renaissance in Ridgeland.
