Baptist Health Systems selected Emergency Room Nurse Peter Venturini as the Caregiver of the Month for May 2013.
A recent patient described her relationship with Emergency Department nurse Peter Venturini as “love at first sight.” The patient’s family recognizes Peter not only as their nurse, but also as an angel of compassion. When it came time to transfer to a floor, the patient asked to be kept in the emergency department. Peter ensured her request was fulfilled. When the patient was eventually released to a floor, Peter provided his cellphone to the family in case they had any questions.
Peter’s career at Baptist began in 2007 when he joined the Emergency Department team. Although he left for a brief period to pursue work as a travel nurse, his heart remained at Baptist. Peter returned to the Emergency Department in January 2013 and has not looked back. He states that his position at Baptist is the ideal job. He loves the night crew in the ER, and considers them family.
The thrill of nursing – helping people, providing compassionate care, and working with his co-workers – keeps Peter going. But during his days off, he splits time between his friends and parents. Peter’s other interests include working out at the gym and visiting friends and family out of state.
One doesn’t need to look far to find patients and co-workers who appreciate Peter’s love of nursing. Patients consider him a model employee, who’s concerned with their well being.
