Krista Davidson was selected as the July Caregiver of the Month at Baptist. Davidson has a unique gift of cheering others and making them feel safe and loved. She enjoys being a nurse, whether at home or at Baptist Medical Center. Her home phone rings often with calls from friends and fellow church members who ask her advice about everything health-related. She appreciates their trust as a nurse, although she is amused by the fact that some of them believe because she is an RN, she is able to diagnose and advise them on everything from oncology to gynecology.
Davidson has been a nurse for 18 years. She graduated from Mississippi College, and most of her nursing experience has been in the area of hospice care. She came to Baptist as a Staff RN on what is now the 4D Neuro/Cardio floor a little over two years ago and is now serving as the Unit Education Coordinator. She enjoys her work and considers nursing as her mission from God.
A patient’s wife stated, “Krista breezed in and gave us lots of hope that things would be better.” Several coworkers submitted notes describing how Davidson quickly rearranges her work schedule to assist others even though she travels from Walnut Grove to Jackson to stay during her work rotation. Her patients appreciate how she spends time with them washing and styling their hair or listening to their jokes. The daughter of one patient described Davidson as not merely a nurse but “a part of our family.”
