October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness month. There are many events helping bring awareness that early breast cancer detection is your greatest protection.
Through the Baptist Health Foundation, the philanthropic division of Baptist Medical Center, a fund was developed to help off-set the costs for those needing breast health services that need help financially. This program called, fund for the girls, supports Mississippians by breaking down the financial barrier that prevents some from seeking needed breast health services.
One hundred percent of the proceeds donated or raised for fund for the girls go directly to patient breast health services. Please checkout http://www.fundforthegirls.com/fund-times/.
There are restaurants (e.g. The Manship, Burgers & Blues), schools, stores, businesses, and organizations supporting fund for the girls with contributions and/or a portion of their October proceeds.
Please mark your calendar for all these exciting events:
October 13th - Forest Hill vs. Wingfield Pink Out and Battle of Raymond Road fund for the girls Drive. There will be a friendly competition between the two schools in support of fund for the girls in the week leading up to Friday night's football game.
October 14th - A Walk in the Park at Wardell-Leach Recreational Complex in Yazoo City. Walk with us from 8:30am - 10:30am. Registration fee is $5 and onsite registration will be available. There will be a balloon release to honor those affected by breast cancer. Click here for details.
October 16th - Zumbathon at Baptist Healthplex-Clinton. Ditch the workout and join the party from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. This fun-filled night is complete with dancing, door prizes, a photo booth, and plenty of pink! Click here for details.
October 20th - Gridiron for the girls Flag Football Tournament at Smith-Wills Stadium. This event is the culmination of a week of events organized by Mississippi College School of Law. The students have a blast "pinking out" and competing head-to-head. Click here for details.
October 20th - Madison-Ridgeland Academy Pink Out. MRA will host special events and contests throughout the week of October 16th leading up to their PINKOUT football game against Oak Forest. Click here for details.
October 21st - Breast Cancer Awareness Bootcamp at Stack Flowood. Join area instructors for an exciting and challenging bootcamp to benefit fund for the girls from 8:30am- 10:30am. Click here for details.
October 21st - Mississippi College Homecoming fund for the girls booth. Stop by the Mississippi College Women in Business' fund for the girls booth to purchase a "This One's for the Girls" Musee Bath Balm and learn how the fund helps others in our local community.
