Robert Neal, Baptist Health Systems’s architect in Facilities Operation, is quick to state he does not consider himself to be worthy of special recognition as a caregiver. He believes every demonstration of PATH service for which he is being recognized is merely what everyone should be doing. Because of this humble attitude as well as Neal’s compassionate gifts of service to those less fortunate, he is recognized as Baptist’s “Caregiver of the Month.”

A Baptist employee for twenty years, Neal credits his parents for his acts of service as they raised him to do good unto others without seeking a reward from them. Yet although he strives to do good deeds anonymously, other employees at Baptist noticed his kindness and submitted letters of recognition. Among these submittals are stories such as, “Robert routinely buys lunch for elderly couples or individuals if they are in the checkout line in the cafeteria. I have witnessed this event on several occasions over the past years. He thanks them for visiting Baptist and tells the cashier that he will pay for their meals.”

Whether Robert is assisting co-workers with projects, defusing a visitor’s forceful confrontation with a patient, or seeking to change someone’s day for the better by anonymously paying for lunch, his generosity and compassion combined with his humble spirit inspire others to adopt a similar outlook toward others. He may disagree, but Baptist believes Robert Neal is an exemplary “Caregiver of the Month.”
