Senior Life Solutions’ Intensive Outpatient Programs are short-term, day programs that provide support and treatment for adults age 55 and older who are facing emotional or mental difficulties. For some participants, this helps to maximize their own coping efforts by remaining close to their family and friends and staying in their familiar surroundings. For others, this type of program provides support while they work through family and/or emotional issues. Participants attend therapy groups during the day and return to their own residence each afternoon.
Intensive Outpatient Programs are designed for the older adult who requires more than regular outpatient counseling, but does not require inpatient treatment.
Senior Life Solutions Day Programs are conveniently located in Yazoo City. As a family member or friend, you may contact our Senior Life Solutions Unit for a referral and free assessment, which can be performed in the home setting. For more information please call 662.751-8245.

What is Swing bed? The term “Swing Bed” refers to a general acute care hospital bed which can be “swung” from acute care to long term care and back again to meet patient needs. It is not a nursing home designation. When a patient’s condition is no longer considered acute, they can be “swung” to a lower level of medical and nursing supervision called “swing bed”.
Typically, the type of patient who would benefit from this service is one who has been hospitalized and whose condition is improved, and does not require daily rounding by your physician, but is still in need of a few more days or weeks of continuous care to receive physical therapy or other treatments before returning home or, in some cases, to a more supervised situation.
Examples of skills that qualify for swing bed are: physical therapy, IV hydration, complex wound care, infections requiring IV antibiotics, daily respiratory therapy requiring inhalation medications, unstable nutritional support requiring NG support for enteral feeding and post-surgical care to name a few.
The patient should have reasonable restorative or rehabilitative potential that will respond to services offered. Also, the patient must have received 3 calendar days of acute care as a hospital inpatient prior to being admitted to Swing Bed.
Why choose Baptist Medical Center Yazoo’s Swing Bed Program?
Baptist Yazoo’s Swing Bed Services offer high quality, experienced care. Patients who benefit from this program are those who have been hospitalized either at Baptist Yazoo or another hospital and their current condition requires transitional care in preparation for returning home or to a more supervised living environment. Whether you require interim care after a major surgery, or are in need of additional short term care while recovering from an injury or illness, Baptist Yazoo is here for you. Because your recovery is in a hospital, you have access to many on-site treatment options including:
The program is often covered by Medicare as well as many private insurance plans.
You can remain in the program as long as you have therapy and rehabilitation goals to meet. Once you have reached your goals, some patients are able to return home and some patients may need to explore additional care options. The care team can help in process by providing recommendations and alternative for future care when necessary. Your family is encouraged to play an active role in your recovery.
