Margaret says, “Betsy Sherman Shelton is no ordinary woman. She is a very strong woman. She has been a ‘mother’ to many young people. She uses her abilities and resources to help others less fortunate than herself, donating untold amounts of money to causes, and helping underprivileged families. Betsy rises to the occasion. I am a recipient of her generosity, so I know first hand. She impacted my life in many ways and I have seen the same positive impact on many other families in McComb and Jackson. Although her primary goal is to share the love of Christ, she does it in very tangible ways, all without fanfare, most anonymously, and minus news media coverage. She is a leader, a mentor, a role model of Christian living and giving, and she has perseverance in sticking to her guns to help those less fortunate than herself, even when her decisions are unpopular and are met with criticism. Betsy is my role model and I want to be just like her when I grow up.”
