Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Baptist is the flagship sponsor of the American Cancer Society's "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" 5K noncompetitive walk/run. Baptist employees Merlene Myrick and Tanya Grace, both breast cancer survivors, are co-chairs for the Baptist team.

Merlene Myrick, shares the following testimony: "Life can change in an instant! That is exactly what happened March of last year when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. In the bed one night I noticed soreness in my breast. After palpating, realized I had a lump. After a couple of days refusing to talk to anyone, reality hits home. Your treatment plan begins. I believe God’s plan for me is to fight against breast cancer, change the way the world views breast cancer, celebrate survivorship, honor those who have lost their battle, and most importantly raise funds and awareness for the fight against this life threatening disease."
